About U.S.Hay
Goals
The Purdue Hay Locator will be a nonprofit web application focused on helping forage-based businesses in catastrophic areas maintain the health of livestock. Catastrophes, such as drought and floods, ruin the hay that many livestock survive on. This web application will aid owners in locating hay beyond their usual geographic scope of transactions, even on a nationwide scale. It will also be available for those to use in normal situations to save on transportation costs as fuel prices continue to rise. This group plans to fully develop the system as well as take the necessary steps to launch this application. The group will be traveling to meet with various agricultural organizations, business professionals, and potential users. We will also be marketing during the launch of the application, which will require materials and postage.
Problem Statement
Currently there are no nationwide, simple, and complete websites that help those selling or looking for hay/forage.
Research Question
Is the Purdue Hay Locator website, driven by AJAX, superior in speed and user preference compared to existing forage sites which do not use AJAX?
